  • Genuine Apple Ati Hd 5870 Graphics Card For Mac
    카테고리 없음 2020. 2. 9. 22:07

The 3,1 Mac Pro (Early 2008) has a double wide PCI Express slot and does have the slots to support this card. There are also two power booster cable connectors on the main board to support a dual card installation, however there is only one 16 lane slot and that is the double wide one, the second is 8 lane, the remaining two are 4 lane. This card is defined by Apple as requiring a PCI Express 2.0 slot which also matches the 3,1 Mac Pro spec. Physically, there appears to be no reason the card will not work. Genuine Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB Graphics Card for the Mac Pro. Apple iMac 27 inch Mid 2010 Video Card ATI Radeon 5750 1GB With Heat Sink. Results 1 - 14 of 14 - Here for sale is a Genuine Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB Graphics Card and is compatible in all models of Mac Pro from 2006-2012.

The ATI Radeon HD 5770 and 5870 will work in any model Mac Pro with up to 3 displays. I and well as several other websites have tested this. You must follow the 'guidelines' of the card to use all three displays. See Apple Knowledge Base article HT4279 by going to support.apple.com and entering HT4279 in the search bubble. It will explain how to use up to 3 displays with these cards.

I have a Early 2008 Mac Pro (3,1) and the official line form the Apple Genius Bar in Sydney was 'no, it won't work'. This was what two other resellers told me, however Other World Computing in the US has an article about testing for exactly this question and it gave me confidence to order the upgrade card & new monitor.

I installed both this morning and am happily using both the 27' MiniDisplayport and my old 23' DVI monitors without a problem. Answered by Maclaren N from Hudson Falls. Oct 26, 2010.

Actually to correct an incorrect post, BOTH the 5770 AND the 5870 (Apple Cards) work in the Mac Pro 1,1 according to Rob-ART over at BareFeats. That's verified. Not saying there aren't specific instructions prior to 10.6.5, but they both work. The 5870 does NOT use an EFI64 ROM, so no worries. Not the one Apple carries, nor the ones we must not speak about.

The real issue that I'm interested to see would be benchmarks between the 5770 and the 5870 in a Mac Pro 1,1. Barefeats did a review on the 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with several cards and with a resounding YES, the 5870 was worth the extra money. However, it's been speculated that due to memory bandwidth constraints and other structural issues, that the 5870 would yield only about a 5% benefit over the 5770 if that in real world applications. I have my doubts which is why I'm really hoping to see some specific benchmarks showing the Mac Pro 1,1 and the 4870, 5770 and the 5870 along with the X1900 as a reference since many if not most of the upgraders will be upgrading from that card (probably should add the 3870 as well). The Mac Pro 1,1 is and has been a fantastic machine and either of these cards will be a significant upgrade and welcome upgrade. Answered by William K from Ellenton. Oct 31, 2010.

Yes, I just replaced my original graphics card in my early 2008 Mac Pro with the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and it works beautifully with a better image than before. It was easy to replace. I am a 70 year old woman who has never worked on the inside of my computers.

This was the first time and I had no problem at all. Instructions were clear and I used all anti-static safety recommendations. Great confidence building experience. I also took the opportunity to blow all the accumulated dust out of my computer, and now I will keep it clean on a regular basis. Answered by Suzanne B from Henderson. Mar 24, 2012.

I have successfully installed the 5770 in my Mac Pro 3.1 but not without some interesting issues. The one I purchased required auxillary power and since it wasn't designed for a 3.1 Mac Pro I had to go hunting for the connector on the logic board. Found it near the front of the board just underneath the plastic slot holders and between the wireless adapter (if you have one) and the additional SATA connectors. Once plugged it it worked fine. However since I have 5x 2 TB drives installed, 1 SSD drive, one DVD drive and now 3 graphics cards (5770 and 2x 2600s), it hit the max of the power supply and some of my USB ports stopped working. Will likely take out one of the 2600s but for now it is working fine if I just unplug a device until after it boots. Answered by Peter F from Milton.

Nov 13, 2011. Just upgraded my mac pro 3.1 with the ati radeon 5770 today.

I was experiencing issues with my older ati card, and had to find a replacement. Spoke to a (somewhat lacking, not-nearly genius at an apple store), and a pretty insightful person on tech support, and visiting this and many other forums, it was pretty unclear if this card would work in my mac pro at all. Finally, i decided to just take the plunge and try it. First though, i thought i'd save some money and try the standard version from best buy. Did this with the radeon 5770 as well as the nvidia gts 450.

Needless to say, they didn't work. No drivers, or the apple power supply hardware for the card(s) were different than those provided in the standard versions. After spending the entire weekend with multiple runs to best buy (by the way, no one there really has any idea what going on), i went to the sf apple store, and picked up the mac version of the radeon 5770.

Popped it in, and it works perfectly. Super easy and super silent. The standard 5770 version wasn't powered properly or something, so the fan was unusually loud. I hated dealing with what appeared as though everything needs to be the 'latest and greatest' from apple, as well as that notion really confusing their less than informed staff, and ultimately paying the extra cash for a specific power supply wire, but i got piece of mind that it works, and that it does.
